In the year 1973, the alpine hut Sodergut in Lofer, Hallenstein was converted into a snack station. "Kaser" is the Pinzgau the vernacular term for alpine hut, thus the name "Soderkaser" that remains to this very day.
For more than 40 years, our family has endeavoured to combine the traditional with the modern in a familiar rustic & comfortable ambience. Several conversions were required in order to create the lodge as it stands today.
But despite the comfortable setting which beckons to linger, the main focus is on the creature comforts of our guests. We are known far and wide for our traditional and home-made treats and specialities. Delicacies such as pretzel soup, cheese dumplings, Kaiserschmarrn or apple and curd cheese strudel are always prepared freshly and cooked on site daily!
